Kansas City Chiefs 2025 Draft Class Analysis

The Chiefs stayed active in the trenches early and added a mix of speed and physicality across the roster. They leaned into value picks and upside athletes to balance roster needs and pick value well. There is real potential that 4-5 rookies in this class play significant snaps, which says a lot for a team that was competing in the Super Bowl last season for a third straight title. Five of the Chiefs selections landed within our Top 100 prospects. Read below for more pick by pick analysis.

Day 1

Round 1, Pick 32 – OT Josh Simmons (Rank: 30)

Josh Simmons is a risky pick until a team that can take the risk grabs him at the bottom of the first. He is your classic ‘Top 10 player had the medicals been more clean’ type of prospect. Simmons is a smooth, athletic tackle who plays with great balance. A slam-dunk value to close out Round 1, matching his pre-draft rank range.

Day 2

Round 2, Pick 63 – IDL Omarr Norman-Lott (Rank: 77)

A strong, disruptive interior defender who will be a nightmare alongside Chris Jones. Slight reach versus ranking, but fits KC’s attacking front as a rotational piece early.

Round 3, Pick 66 – EDGE Ashton Gillotte (Rank: 80)

Gillotte has been on the pre-draft radar for two straight years now. A high-motor edge with versatility— a solid value for the middle of the third round. If Felix Anudike-Uzomah is a 1st rounder, Gillotte has experience and skill to make a 1st round argument as well.

Round 3, Pick 85 – CB Nohl Williams (Rank: 68)

One of the better corner picks in the class. Nohl is purely a disruptor before and at the catch point with requisite size and athleticism

Day 3

Round 4, Pick 133 – WR Jalen Royals (Rank: 71)

The best value pick of the Chiefs draft was the explosive vertical threat out of Utah State, Jalen Royals. Huge value in Round 4 for a WR ranked just outside the top 70 pre-draft. Royals has talent and size to fill-in for any potential Rashee Rice absence and challenge Hollywood Brown for reps immediately.

Round 5, Pick 156 – LB Jeffrey Bassa (Rank: 120)

Made from the same mold as Drue Tranquill, Bassa is a smart, rangy linebacker with strong instincts who converted from the safety position.

Round 7, Pick 228 – WR Brashard Smith (Rank: 203)

A quick converted slot receiver with return upside. Brashard Smith comes from the Puka Nacua School of Strong Impressions after his strong Senior Bowl campaign. He was absolutely worth a flyer this late, adding needed depth to the RB room at an incredibly cheap cost.
Overall Grade: A+
